Prayer of the Good Thief By John Apple
Lord Jesus Christ, as he hung next to You on the cross, You promised to Saint Dismas an entry into Paradise on the day of Your Crucifixion; and You promised also that, upon Your return to Earth, You would come as a thief in the night: give to Your people on Earth the assurance that Your hand is not shortened-that-it-cannot-save, and that there is no situation which cannot be redeemed by Your saving love; and as Saint Dismas gave You words of comfort as he hung beside You on the cross, grant that we may so love and comfort one another that we may not be found wanting at Your Second Coming; through the merits of Your passion, death and resurrection. Amen! |
